Music
at Forest Hills

...Forest
Hills Presbyterian Church is widely admired for its outstanding
music program, which features a 50 voice adult choir, a youth
choir, and a children's choir. The Adult Choir is the cornerstone
of the music ministry. The choir leads worship each Sunday by
singing an introit, anthem, and several responses during the service.
Special music - duets, trios, quartets, or ensembles - enhance
the music ministry and add meaning to our worship. The adult choir
is a great strength in the church, and their music portfolio consists
of classic works as well as contemporary music.

...The
choir usually presents several music events during the year. In
the past, they have done such pieces as Vivaldi's "Gloria,"George
Frederick Handel's "Messiah," and Franz Schubert's "Mass
in G." At Christmas, they present a musical program during
the morning worship service, and often they are accompanied by
a chamber orchestra. The choir often presents a dinner theater
in the spring, with contemporary secular music, great humor, and
a wonderful meal.
...Singing
in the choir at Forest Hills is great fun. There is a spirit of
working together, sharing together, and growing together. The
spirit of fellowship is very special at Forest Hills, and the
choir is a source of great fellowship to all.
...There
are no auditions for the choir, and formal training in music is
not required for anyone to sing in the choir. What we look for
is someone who wants to raise his or her voice to God in praise
and thanksgiving, and who wants to have fun and learn in the process.
The Adult Choir rehearses for about an hour, beginning at 7:30
on Wednesdays (they take a break in the summer, but continue to
sing on Sunday mornings), and they again rehearse the anthem on
Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Forest
Hills Singers

...Early
in 1999, the Forest Hills Singers began their ministry in and through
the church. This very talented ensemble group is composed of 6 men
and 6 women, who share the joy of Jesus Christ in worship services
and special gatherings at Forest Hills Church. The group also enjoys
sharing the gift of music throughout the area, as they sing at other
churches for family night gatherings, special worship services,
or other special events. |

...The
Singers have a music library that consists of contemporary Christian
music, spirituals, gospel, as well as some secular music. The
singers are accompanied by two keyboards, guitar, and drums. They
have enhanced the worship at Forest Hills Church, and can enhance
special programs at other chruches also.
